Swansea was first settled in 1667 and officially incorporated in 1785. The town currently is a part of Massachusetts' Bristol County. Swansea is located in southeastern Massachusetts, bordered by the towns/cities of Barrington RI, Warren RI, Somerset, Dighton, Rehoboth and Seekonk. It is a distance of 47 miles south of Boston and 12 miles southeast of Providence, RI.
